The owners of this Chancellor Park property had recently added a stunning vaulted side extension with bi-fold doors opening onto the garden beyond but the outdoor space itself hadn’t kept pace. The area was dominated by a tired, Japanese-themed deck and water feature installed by previous owners, leaving limited usable entertaining space and no coherent connection between the beautiful new interior and the garden.

The Coast Inn sits on England’s most easterly inhabited island, facing out across the Blackwater Estuary on Mersea Island in Essex. A well-loved local institution, it draws a loyal year-round crowd and a significant seasonal influx through spring, summer and autumn. When its long-serving owners embarked on a substantial renovation during the pandemic lockdowns, they saw an opportunity to do something properly rather than provisionally, extending the building upwards, sideways and outwards and transforming a previously redundant area at the front into a genuine outdoor dining destination.

On the outskirts of Colchester, bordering the ancient Welsh Wood, this property sits at an elevated position with a stunning woodland garden stretching out behind it. The garden was rich with wildlife and seasonal interest, yet the house was entirely disconnected from it. The culprit was a dilapidated multi-level decking structure and a disused spa pool that consumed much of the usable space directly outside the property, blocking the view rather than framing it.

They wanted to avoid anything too traditional or starkly minimalist, preferring a calm, modern British garden that would feel warm, welcoming and beautifully connected to the architecture of their home.

Tucked away in the Sussex countryside, this once modest 1930s bungalow has taken on a striking new identity. What began as a compact single-storey home is now a bold, contemporary property, wrapped in Millboard Envello cladding and ready for family life and relaxed entertaining.

Set in open Warwickshire countryside on the edge of Stratford-upon-Avon, this barn conversion enjoys sweeping rural views and a wonderfully peaceful setting. What it lacked was a garden to match. With little more than a blank canvas outside, the homeowners asked award-winning landscape designer Lucy Bravington to shape a series of outdoor spaces that would feel welcoming, practical and in tune with the character of the barn.

Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota is known worldwide for championship golf. Host of the 2016 Ryder Cup and preparing to welcome the event again in 2028, the club wanted its off-course spaces to live up to the same standard as its iconic fairways. The new member patio was conceived as a social hub where members could gather before and after rounds, enjoy views across the course and experience the club’s hospitality at its best.
